Basing on the information that are avaible about the new Honda VFR 1200 will feature a fully automatic clutch transmission. As the dual clutch automatic gearbox is going to be mounted as stock on all VFR 1200, Honda is going to be the first manufacturer that will feature the dual clutch transmission on a big sports tourer.

As it can be seen from the video, the new transmission provides a very rapid and smooth gear changes while giving a fully motorcycle riding enjoyment.

Also the fuel economy should be equal or even better that a conventional manual transmission but at the same time providing a fully sporty character by allowing the rider to chose when to change the gear.

And there is still more. This gearbox-transmission features a light and compact design that can be fitted on existing Honda models without any layout modifications. We can expect to see also the new generation of CBRs fitted with the same gearbox but with a sportier mapping.

But also the VFR1200 to respond to riders demand will have three mapping modes. Two fully automatic modes: automatic normal riding-touring and automatic sport mode. As the third mode it will be equipped with a manual mode that will give the rider the same feel as a standard manual transmission.
