There are some rumors about that the VFR1200 engines will came along with a double-clutch hi-tech gearbox too.

The gearbox will have three different working modes: Manual, Normal (Drive) and a Sport program too.

Manual mode will allow the driver to have full control, but it will use double clutch to anticipate which gear is coming next, to get a smooth performance.

Normal mode will act like an automatic transmission, but it will keep the revs low, to make the engine stay in twin and triple mode to reduce fuel consumption.

Sport mode will also act like an automatic transmission, but allowing the bike to have always the maximum acceleration. The engine will mostly be working as a V4, while the rider will be able to concentrate on driving without thinking which gear is right to get the maximum performance.
